Internal sulfate attack in mortars containing contaminated fine recycled concrete aggregates

چکیده
Internal sulfate attack can be caused by the gypsum residues present in fine recycled aggregates (FRA). As opposed to better known external or Delayed Ettringite Formation (DEF), sulfates this context are provided a contamination of aggregates. Mortars made with contaminated FRA were subjected different conditions, assess which parameters had an influence on reaction. Their mechanical properties and microstructure investigated. Results showed that content, porosity, temperature alkalinity influenced consequences attack. However, size distribution cement type did not.

Bonding Behavior of Deformed Steel Rebars in Sustainable Concrete Containing both Fine and Coarse Recycled Aggregates
In order to assess the bond behavior of deformed steel rebars in recycled-aggregate concrete (RAC) incorporating both fine and coarse recycled aggregate, pull-out tests were carried out in this study on 16-mm diameter deformed steel rebars embedded concentrically in RAC. The concrete was designed using equivalently mixed proportions of both recycled coarse aggregate and recycled fine aggregate....
متن کاملCyclic Behavior of Low Rise Concrete Shear Walls Containing Recycled Coarse and Fine Aggregates
In this study, the cyclic behaviors of low rise concrete shear walls using recycled coarse or fine aggregates were investigated. Eight low rise Recycled Aggregates Concrete (RAC) shear wall specimens were designed and tested under a cyclic loading. The following parameters were varied: replacement percentages of recycled coarse or fine aggregates, reinforcement ratio, axial force ratio and X-sh...
متن کاملIncreased Durability of Concrete Made with Fine Recycled Concrete Aggregates Using Superplasticizers
This paper evaluates the influence of two superplasticizers (SP) on the durability properties of concrete made with fine recycled concrete aggregate (FRCA). For this purpose, three families of concrete were tested: concrete without SP, concrete made with a regular superplasticizer and concrete made with a high-performance superplasticizer. Five volumetric replacement ratios of natural sand by F...
متن کاملPerformance of High-strength Concrete Made with Recycled Ceramic Aggregates
Recent scientific concerns to achieve sustainability in construction have suggested the implementation of using recycled aggregate in concrete because it has the potential to reduce the demand for extraction of natural raw materials and decrease the volume of wastes landfilled. In this respect, this study aims to investigate the suitability of using ceramic tile (CT) and ceramic sanitary (CS) w...
